Hello, Whisper Face
A voice keyboard for Mac that keeps your words on your Mac.
Dictation on a computer has a trust problem. Most tools want an account, a subscription, and a live connection to a server you cannot see, and then they ask you to speak your email, your notes, and your passwords into it.
Whisper Face takes the opposite stance. Hold a key, say the thing, and the words show up where your cursor is. All of it runs on your Mac.
What that buys you
- No account and no word cap. Open it and use it.
- No audio leaving the machine. You can dictate on a plane with the Wi-Fi off.
- Text in the right place. It leases the field under your cursor and checks it is still there before pasting once. If the field moved, your words wait in the Outbox instead of landing in the wrong window.
And a face
Every good menu-bar tool needs a face. Whisper Face has five — a fox, a bear, an owl, a parrot, and a cat. Pick the one you like. It sits quietly at the top of your screen and opens its mouth when you start talking.
It is a small thing. It also makes the app feel like it is listening with you, not at you.
Download it, hold your key, and tell your Mac what to write.
